This is my good friend and fellow Humane Society for Hamilton County (Indiana) dog walker, Nancy Roberts. Just seeing her coming around the corner of the shelter with one of our favorite dogs in tow makes me happy. Yesterday's heat and humidity didn't stop her incessant chatter or desire to make sure our pups got a chance to safely spend outdoor time.
Nancy is one of many dog people that I am lucky to have met during my time at various shelters and rescues - all willing to spend time with animals; selflessly giving to a passion that is coupled with joy, friendships, and sometimes heartbreak.
Society is filled with good people like Nancy - quiet people who work behind the scenes to make our world a better place.
There are opportunities where we each can make a difference - places that fill the lives of others (human and canine) with the joy of knowing someone cares.
